Osoyoos

On our second day in Osoyoos, we were up earlier than the girls, so we went in search of an early morning cup of coffee. The lake was beautiful at that early hour.
As we walked along the water with our steaming coffee, the day got brighter and brighter, and we snapped picture after picture after picture.
We found a cute little cafe for breakfast, so we walked back to the hotel and told the girls where it was and said we would meet them there in half an hour. We went back and sat by the water to soak in the beauty.
After breakfast we set off for NK'MIP Desert Cultural Centre. What a contrast to Vancouver. We had palm trees in English Bay, and here we are in a desert.

This was an amazing cultural centre and a highlight of the trip for us. I spend some happy time in the gift shop and bought myself a trinket or two. What fun.
This is a view of the land around the Cultural centre...
and Lake Osoyoos nestled in the valley, as seen from the Cultural Centre.
We signed up for a an hour long tour of the Osoyoos band's land of the Okanagan Nation's land. This is D2 with our tour guide Bob.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, the summer temperatures creep up into the 50's. This is a pit-house used by the early residents of the land to keep cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
Here is D2 and D3 inside the pit-house listening to Bob tell us about its construction.
Of course AC and I had to pose just outside the door.
Another view of the area set up for us to tour and see how life was for the early residents.
This land is now the site of North America's first aboriginal owned and operated winery. More pics and info about that tomorrow. Stay tuned.
